Anonymous usage analytics
We collect limited first-party usage events such as page sessions, speedometer starts, installed-app launches, successful installations, and shared-link creation. These events may include a broad device type, operating system, browser family, display mode, screen size, and page path. We do not include GPS coordinates, routes, names, email addresses, or advertising identifiers.
A random identifier stored on the device is hashed on the server and used only to estimate unique usage. SpeedyMeter does not use a third-party analytics service for these reports. Shared speed links contain only the statistics and chart the user chooses to share; they never include location or route data.
Community stories and photos
Submitting a story sends your chosen display name, journey type, speed summary, written experience and two images to the site administrator. Images are re-encoded to remove embedded metadata. Visible details in the image, such as faces, addresses or notifications, are not automatically removed: check these before uploading. Pending and rejected submissions are accessible only to the administrator; approved submissions become public with your chosen name and text.
Submitting the form includes your permission to publish after review. To request removal, contact us through the contact page and identify the story. Do not upload images of others without their permission. Demonstration images are labeled and are not real user testimonials.
Problem reports and locally generated cards
Problem reports, an optional reply email, page path and browser user-agent information are stored for administrator review and are not displayed publicly. The image-card generator runs in your browser; its optional photo is not sent to SpeedyMeter unless you separately submit a community story. Sharing a card with another app sends it to the recipient you choose.
Notifications
Browser notifications will only be enabled after the user explicitly opts in. A user can revoke notification permission at any time in device or browser settings.
